Best Trick Winners Malto, Sheckler and Lutzka Donated Prize Money to the Cause
May 29, 2010 (Lake Forest, CA) – Today some of the best skateboarders in the world joined Ryan Sheckler at the etnies Skatepark of Lake Forest for the Sheckler Foundation’s first Skate for a Cause event that raised thousands of dollars for the Make-a-Wish Foundation. It was one of those days when the skate community rallied to help others and had a lot of fun granting wishes, with three best trick contests, a demo and a skateboard carnival village with games and activities.
Two lucky kids’ wishes were granted this morning at etnies private skateboard training facility too – Jonathon’s wish was to skateboard with Ryan Sheckler, and Marissa wished to skate with Rob Dyrdek.
The total prize purse for the best trick contests was $10,000, and all the winners donated their prize money to Make-A-Wish! Sean Malto won $4,000 for the best trick on the 11-stair, Greg Lutzka got a $3,000 check for best trick on the center pieces and Ryan Sheckler earned $3,000 for the best trick on tranny.

Malto, Anthony (Jonathon’s little brother), the Happiest-Make-a-Wish-kid-on-Earth Jonathon, Sheckler and Lutzka joined by several friends from Make-A-Wish.

Lutzka was the first best trick winner announced, and he started something when he donated all of his prize money to Make-A-Wish!

Rather than just skate the small spine, Sheckler moved a big barrier in front of the bump and proceeded to pull a series of man-sized tricks over it.
While the final amount of the thousands of dollars raised is still being counted, the Sheckler Foundation’s Skate for a Cause presented by etnies, would like to thank all the sponsors that made the event possible! These generous sponsors were: ARF, Archie’s Ice Cream, Boneheads, EagleRider, Independent Truck Company, Kicker, Mission Skincare, Nixon, Oakley, Power Balance, Plan B Skateboards, Red Bull, Screamin Coupons, Tech Deck and The Wasserman Foundation.
The proceeds from these brands’ skateboard carnival village games, and food sales will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
